Dentelle in Cambrai
For a supermarket in Cambrai, a city in Northern France famous for its lace, a novel screenprinting technique was used on transluscent polycarbonate sheets to create an effect reminiscent of lace, or 'dentelle' as it is called in French. M. Dutrieux of VDDT Architects created a design to be printed on 40 mm thick polycarbonate sheets with 72% light transmission, with the panels being installed by VAES. The lower price of the polycarbonate sheets proved beneficial in comparision to using glass.
